After the practical driving test, the result is not communicated on-site by the examiner. The answer is published online, in the candidate’s space on the RdvPermis platform, within a timeframe that varies according to several technical factors. Understanding these mechanisms helps to know when to refresh the page with a real chance of finding something.

Publication of the driving test result on RdvPermis: what happens on the server side

Most guides mention a timeframe of 24 to 48 working hours. This range corresponds to the time needed for the examiner to validate the file, for the data to be transmitted to the central system, and then made accessible in the candidate’s space.

The rarely mentioned point: the result can appear as early as midnight the night following the exam, directly on RdvPermis. Some candidates check their space late in the evening and find their answer already, well before the usual time slot the next morning.

This timeframe depends on how quickly the examiner enters the report. When the entry is immediate after the test, publication can be very quick. When waiting for the driving test result takes longer than expected, the cause is often an overload at the testing center or a delay in processing, not a bad sign regarding the answer itself.

There is no longer any postal sending of the practical result. Consultation is done exclusively online. If the result does not appear within 48 working hours, the issue lies with the online publication, not with a lost letter.

Manual re-entry of the file: an additional timeframe to be aware of

In some cases, the result does not display within the usual timeframe. Before panicking, there is a technical explanation: manual re-entry of the file.

When the automatic system fails to integrate the exam data (transmission error, issue linking the file to the correct candidate account), an agent must intervene to re-enter the information. This manual processing adds a few days to the standard timeframe.

To verify that the problem does not come from one’s own account, three points should be checked:

  • The NEPH number (Harmonized Prefectural Registration Number) associated with the RdvPermis account matches the one used during the exam registration.
  • The email address provided in the candidate’s space is correct and active, as it is the one that receives notifications of availability.
  • The browser used does not block page updates (clearing the cache or testing from another device may suffice).

If after 72 working hours the result is still absent, contacting the testing center or the driving school remains the most direct approach. The driving school does not have the result before it is published online, but it can follow up with the relevant service.

CEPC after a favorable result: provisional document and geographical limits

Once the favorable result is displayed, the candidate can download their CEPC (Certificate of Driving License Examination) from their RdvPermis space. This document temporarily replaces the driving license in card format.

Validity and conditions of use of the CEPC

The CEPC allows driving for four months from the date of success. During this period, the definitive license is produced by the Imprimerie Nationale and then sent by mail.

A point often overlooked: the CEPC is only valid on French territory. A newly graduated candidate considering a trip to Spain or Belgium with this document alone risks being fined. To drive abroad, the card format license is required.

What to do if the CEPC does not download

The download of the CEPC depends on the proper finalization of the file on the administration side. If the download button does not appear while the result is marked as favorable, it generally means that the administrative validation of the file is not yet complete. In this case, waiting an additional 24 hours is usually sufficient.

Driving test result not received after several days: concrete steps

After the 72 working hour timeframe without a visible result, several actions can be taken without waiting indefinitely.

  • Check the RdvPermis candidate space by logging in with the NEPH number and date of birth, rather than through a link received by email that might point to an expired session.
  • Contact the driving school to have them inquire with the driving test service of the prefecture linked to the testing center.
  • As a last resort, directly contact the France Titres service (formerly ANTS) via the messaging of the online account, specifying the NEPH number and the date of the test.

The delay does not prejudge the result. A file pending manual re-entry can very well contain a favorable opinion. The only reliable information is that which appears in the official candidate space.

The most useful reflex remains to check the RdvPermis space as soon as the night following the exam, then to wait two full working days before worrying. Beyond this timeframe, each additional day justifies contacting the driving school or the testing center to identify any potential technical blockage.
